Dear contributors,

Creating the best public school education is the responsibility of the entire community. This means not only parents and educators but also businesses (large as well as small), foundations, community groups, associations, philanthropists and citizens. The Education Foundation is the galvanizing force uniting these interests. The Foundation is also an enabler. It identifies needs within the public schools and then helps the private sector address these needs.

Today we are all focused on improving student achievement and integrating technology into today’s classroom to create the ideal learning environment for the future. The Foundation is in the forefront, on the leading edge of reform in the classroom. Our only clients are the children of Fairfax County. But the beneficiaries are many. Technologically literate, well-trained and educated students make Fairfax County a stable, growing and secure place for businesses to locate, allowing local housing to appreciate in value.

The Foundation’s K12nects program is leading the nation in crafting ways that technology can reform learning. We don’t believe in throwing computing devices at teachers and children. We do believe that technology, when properly applied, can move us toward mass customization of education, provide a virtual 24/7 gathering place for students, teachers, and parents to communicate, and ultimately prepare kids to use technology in their careers.

The Foundation is privileged to be leading the charge, and we thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
James S. Rosebush
